In 1999 a bunch of climbers travelled overland across Africa, from Cape Town to Kenya. This was Hot Rock and it was the start of something new.

At the turn of the millenium Hot Rock returned with an international team of 35+ climbers travelling 29,000km through Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Tibet and China.

Over six months we became the first expedition of its kind to tread the Silk Route. With BiRT, our own purpose built vehicle we established new climbing areas, put up over 100 new routes and climbed some of the classic established routes along the way.
